Flag2GC: 21 years and over $1 million dollars
The Flagstaff to Grand Canyon mountain bike ride started in 1997 as an event with 43 riders that raised $900 for Marine League Charities riding their bikes from just outside of Flagstaff to just south of the Grand Canyon rim. Since its humble beginnings this charity ride most recently raised over $85,000 from just 200 motivated mountain bike riders. What made it such a big success? A team of volunteers relentlessly committed to creating a fun, safe community event that provides funds for the under-served youth of Northern Arizona. Due to the ride's favorable reputation, the Flag2GC ride most recently sold out in under 2 hours.
Given the limited exposure due to the small number of riders allowed to participate, the biggest marketing challenge for this ride is the recruitment of sponsors and donors.
In return, gaining new donors has been relatively easy. In 2018, Bicycling Magazine recognized Flag2GC as a top 10 Charity Ride
